UN, Nigeria, debunk rumours of proposed nation called UNO State of Cameroon.

Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the United Nations Office in Nigeria have described as false in its entirety and nothing but fiction, the news making the rounds that a United Nations Organization UNO State of Cameroon will soon be created.

According to the false report, the proclaimation of the new UNO State of Cameroon by the United Nations, as alleged, was slated for July 10 2020.

The trashed report was based on a misrepresentation of the Greentree Agreement between Nigeria and Cameroon.

The agreement was signed on June 12 2006, by former President Olusegun Obasanjo for Nigeria, and Paul Biya for Cameroon.

It was the formal treaty which resolved the Cameroon-Nigeria border dispute over the oil and natural-gas-rich Bakassi Peninsula.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in addition, said the UN does not create States.
