Kano State Government on Wednesday confirmed 27 new cases of COVID-19 in the state. The state Ministry of Health stated this in a tweet at 11.50pm on Tuesday.
It also disclosed that 11 additional patients had been discharged, with one death recorded, while the total cases of COVID-19 cases in the state now stand at 693.
Meanwhile, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje earlier met with the five emirs in the state to sensitize them to the efforts of the state government in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
During the meeting held at the Government House, Ganduje advised them to also sensitize members of the grassroots to how to comply with the protocols of COVID-19, as well as observing social distancing, as well as to regularly wash their hands and use hand sanitizers so as to keep safe.
‘’We decided to meet with the traditional rulers, in order to brief them on the steps being taken by the state government to curb the spread of the deadly virus, so that they too will take the message to their subjects.’’
Meanwhile, the state government has released N285m to support the state Fundraising Committee on COVID-19, to enable it to distribute relief materials to 50,000 vulnerable households across the 44 local government areas of the state.
Briefing newsmen on the activities of the committee at Government House, the committee chairman, Prof. Yahuza Bello, disclosed that his members had successfully executed the first phase of the exercise, during which 50,000 households benefited.
According to him, all salary earners were exempted from the beneficiaries, adding that forms were earlier issued to the beneficiaries at the end of which only the eligible ones benefited from the relief materials.
