Senator Dr. Ahmed Lawan and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege Emerge as the Senate President and Deputy Senate President of the 9th Senate

Following the election conducted by the Clark of the Senate the 9th Senate, today 11th June 2019, the immediate past Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan, has emerges as the Senate President of the 9th Senate of the upper chamber of the national assembly of the federal republic of Nigeria.

In the election senator Ahmed Lawan pulled a total votes of 97 out of the total vote cast of 107 to defeat his co-contestant Senator Ali Ndume, who score 28 votes.

However, Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, the former Senate Deputy President (7th and 8th Senate) was nominated again for the seat of the Senate Deputy President, before him was the nomination of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. The election concluded with Ovie Omo-Agege with 68 votes and Ike Ekweremadu score 37 votes out of 105 valid vote cast. It was made known by the Clerk that a vote was voided and a member did not vote.
